The works presented here are drawn from memory and memory is subjective, shaped by personal myths and the stories we tell ourselves. We revisit experiences and reconstruct them in ways that give them meaning. In that sense, these paintings embrace their imperfections, because memory itself is far from perfect.

Much of this work revolves around summer – a brief and precious season in Minnesota – when I pull in images, colors, and sensations that sustain me through the rest of the year. Through layers of paint and pencil, sometimes marker and pallet chips, these works rely on suggestion to create a sense of time.
